Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups (190 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk, room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons (42 grams) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup (100 grams) granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups (190 grams) all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ¼ cup (50 grams) granulated sugar, and ¼ teaspoon salt until evenly combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat 1 large egg and add ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk and 3 tablespoons (42 grams) melted unsalted butter. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir gently with a spoon or spatula until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be a little lumpy.
  5. Using a teaspoon or cookie scoop, scoop out small dough balls about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and place them on a parchment-lined tray or plate.
  6. Arrange donut holes in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket, leaving space for air circulation.
  7. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Donut holes should be golden brown and puffed up.
  8. While the first batch cooks, mix 1 tablespoon cinnamon with ½ cup (100 grams) granulated sugar in a small bowl.
  9. As soon as donut holes come out, toss them gently in the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm.
  10. Repeat frying and coating with remaining dough balls.
  11. Serve warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 24 hours at room temperature.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter to keep donut holes tender. Preheat the air fryer for best crispiness. Shake the basket halfway through cooking for even browning. Toss donut holes in cinnamon sugar immediately after cooking while warm for best coating. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the air fryer to maintain crispiness.
