Graveyard Brownie Dirt Cups - featured image

A fun and spooky Halloween dessert featuring fudgy brownie chunks layered with Oreo crumble dirt, creamy vanilla pudding, and decorated with gummy worms and tombstone cookies. Perfect for parties and easy to make in under 45 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box brownie mix (preferably Ghirardelli)
  • Ingredients required by the brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed (leave some bigger chunks for texture)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped
  • Gummy worms
  • Tombstone-shaped cookies or decorated graham crackers
  • Edible silver glitter or candy eyes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix brownie batter according to box instructions, combining mix with eggs, oil, and water.
  2. Pour batter into greased 8×8 inch baking pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Let brownies cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  3. Crush Oreo cookies in a food processor or in a sealed plastic bag with a rolling pin until crumbly with some chunks. Set aside 1/4 cup for topping.
  4. Prepare vanilla pudding according to package directions or make homemade pudding and chill. Gently fold in whipped heavy cream to pudding for lightness.
  5. Crumble cooled brownies into 1/2 inch pieces. Layer 1-2 tablespoons Oreo crumble at bottom of each dessert cup, add a spoonful of pudding, then brownie chunks, more pudding to fill 3/4 of cup, and top with remaining Oreo crumble.
  6. Decorate with gummy worms poking out and press a tombstone cookie into each cup. Add edible glitter or candy eyes if desired.
  7. Refrigerate cups for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve chilled.

Notes

Ensure brownies are completely cooled before layering to avoid soggy dirt. Crush Oreos just before assembling to keep crunch. Chill pudding well and fold whipped cream gently to keep it fluffy. Decorations like gummy worms and tombstones should be added just before serving for freshness.
