  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small corn tortillas (6 inches each)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
  • Hot sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels until they feel tacky.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add the dried shrimp and drizzle with olive oil. Toss until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange the seasoned shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each. Cook in batches if needed.
  5. Air fry at 400°F for 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping halfway through, until shrimp are pink, opaque, and have a golden-brown crust.
  6. While shrimp cook, make the lime crema: In a small bowl, combine sour cream, lime juice, lime zest, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  7. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium-high heat for about 30 seconds per side, until soft with light brown spots. Stack and cover with a towel.
  8. Assemble tacos: Place a warm tortilla flat, add shredded cabbage, 3-4 crispy shrimp, drizzle with lime crema, add avocado slices if desired, and sprinkle with cilantro. Serve with hot sauce.

Notes

Pat shrimp dry thoroughly for maximum crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. For a dairy-free crema, use coconut yogurt or cashew-based sour cream. Leftover shrimp can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes.
