A quick and colorful snack featuring fresh fruit skewers paired with a creamy homemade vanilla yogurt dip. Perfect for summer gatherings, kid-friendly snacks, or a cheerful breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Green grapes, halved (seedless)
  • Pineapple chunks (fresh or canned in juice, drained)
  • Blueberries
  • Honeydew melon, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Cantaloupe melon, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Mini wooden skewers or sturdy toothpicks (3-4 inches long)
  • Plain Greek yogurt (1 cup)
  • Pure vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  • Honey or maple syrup (1 tablespoon, optional)
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit (10 minutes): Rinse all fresh fruit under cold water and pat dry gently. Hull strawberries and halve them. Halve the grapes carefully. Peel and cube honeydew and cantaloupe melon into roughly 1-inch cubes. Drain pineapple if canned and cut into similar-sized chunks.
  2. Assemble the Skewers (5-7 minutes): Thread fruit pieces onto mini skewers or toothpicks in this order for a rainbow effect: strawberry, pineapple, green grape, honeydew, blueberry, cantaloupe. Use 3 to 5 pieces per skewer.
  3. Make the Vanilla Yogurt Dip (5 minutes): In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup plain Greek yogurt with 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. Add 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon if desired. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  4. Serve: Arrange the mini fruit skewers on a platter and place the vanilla yogurt dip in a small bowl alongside. Optionally, garnish with fresh mint leaves or a dusting of cinnamon.

Notes

Keep fruit sizes uniform for balanced bites. Chill fruit before assembling for freshness. Assemble skewers the same day to prevent sogginess. The dip can be sweetened to taste and made dairy-free using coconut yogurt and vanilla extract. Store skewers covered in the fridge up to 4 hours; dip in airtight container up to 2 days.
