A quick, fun, and customizable pizza bagels recipe perfect for kids to assemble themselves. Ideal as a snack or light meal, this recipe is simple, delicious, and encourages creativity.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 plain or everything bagels, sliced in half
  • ½ cup pizza sauce (marinara or pizza sauce, store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 to cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • About 20 pepperoni slices (optional)
  • ½ cup sliced black olives
  • ½ cup diced bell peppers
  • ½ cup mushrooms (fresh or canned)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional extras: grated Parmesan, red pepper flakes, fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the bagels in half horizontally. Trim the bottom if uneven to create a flat surface.
  3. Brush each bagel half lightly with olive oil.
  4. Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over each bagel half.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top of the sauce (about 2 to 3 tablespoons per slice).
  6. Add your favorite toppings such as pepperoni, olives, and bell peppers.
  7. Lightly sprinkle dried oregano over the assembled pizza bagels.
  8. Bake in the oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bagels are crisp on the edges. Check after 8 minutes to avoid burning.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Use gluten-free bagels for a gluten-free option and plant-based cheese for dairy-free. Brush bagels with olive oil for a crispier crust. Keep toppings bite-sized to prevent sliding. Watch oven closely to avoid burning. Preheat oven for best texture. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
