A creamy, tangy, and spicy buffalo chicken dip with a festive spider web design, perfect for Halloween parties. Ready in under 30 minutes with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to soften.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, ranch dressing, and buffalo hot sauce. Blend with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and uniform, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add shredded chicken, 1 cup shredded cheddar, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix on low speed until evenly distributed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Transfer mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  5. In a small bowl, combine remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar with about 1 tablespoon softened cream cheese to form a thick, paste-like consistency. Adjust with a splash of milk if too stiff or more cheese if too runny.
  6. Spoon the cheese mixture into a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small corner snipped off.
  7. Pipe a spider web design: Start with a small circle in the center, then pipe concentric circles about 1 inch apart. Pipe lines from the center outward like spokes to create the web pattern.
  8. Bake for 18-22 minutes until hot and bubbly around the edges. Optionally broil for 1-2 minutes for a golden top.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped chives or green onions if desired.

Notes

Room temperature cream cheese is essential for a smooth dip. Don’t overbake; the center should still be slightly jiggly. The dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated; add 5-7 minutes to baking time. For a milder version, reduce buffalo sauce to 1/4 cup and add extra ranch dressing.
