These easy witch finger pretzel rods combine salty pretzels, creamy white chocolate, and almond fingernails for a creepy yet delicious Halloween treat that comes together in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag pretzel rods (about 2024 rods)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Slivered almonds (for fingernails)
  • Red food coloring (optional, for cuticle effect)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or shortening (optional, for thinning chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set slivered almonds in a small bowl.
  2. Melt white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until mostly melted. Stir until smooth. If needed, add 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil to thin.
  3. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip about two-thirds into the melted white chocolate. Gently twist to remove excess.
  4. While chocolate is still wet, press a slivered almond onto the tip of the dipped end, pointed end extending slightly past the pretzel.
  5. Use a toothpick to gently drag 3-4 horizontal lines across the chocolate coating to create knuckle lines. Work when chocolate is slightly thickened but not set.
  6. Place each finished pretzel rod on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they do not touch. Refrigerate for about 15 minutes until chocolate is firm.
  7. Optional: Mix 1 tablespoon remaining melted white chocolate with a tiny drop of red food coloring. Transfer to a small zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and pipe a small dot at the base of each almond fingernail. Refrigerate another 5-10 minutes.
  8. Serve at room temperature. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

White chocolate is delicate; melt slowly in 30-second intervals. Work in small batches of 6-8 pretzels to prevent chocolate from setting. For knuckle lines, let chocolate sit for about 2 minutes after dipping before drawing lines. Store in a single layer to avoid scratching the chocolate.
