A colorful, layered jello dessert perfect for kids’ parties, featuring vibrant flavors and fun toppings that mimic fireworks in a cup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 different flavored Jello packets (3 oz each) – recommended flavors: cherry (red), lime (green), blue raspberry (blue)
  • Boiling water – 1 cup (240 ml) per packet
  • Cold water – 1 cup (240 ml) per packet
  • Whipped cream – about 1 cup (240 ml), store-bought or homemade
  • Edible glitter or rainbow sprinkles – for decoration
  • Popping candy (optional) – for extra excitement
  • Optional add-ons: fresh fruit pieces (blueberries or sliced strawberries), mini marshmallows, gummy candies

Instructions

  1. Prepare the first Jello layer: Boil 1 cup (240 ml) of water and stir in one 3 oz (85 g) Jello packet until fully dissolved. Add 1 cup (240 ml) cold water and mix well. Pour about 1/3 cup (80 ml) of this mixture into each cup, filling them about one-third full. Place cups in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until the layer is firm to the touch but not fully set.
  2. Make the second Jello layer: Repeat the process with the second Jello flavor. Once the first layer is slightly firm, carefully pour the second layer over the back of a spoon to avoid breaking the first layer. Chill again for another 30 minutes until set.
  3. Prepare and add the third layer: Repeat with the third flavor, layering gently as before. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until fully firm.
  4. Add the finishing touches: Once the jello layers are fully set, top each cup with a dollop of whipped cream. Use a piping bag for a pretty swirl or simply spoon it on. Sprinkle edible glitter, rainbow sprinkles, or popping candy on top to mimic fireworks bursting in the sky.
  5. Serve and enjoy: These Firework Jello Cups are best served chilled. Prepare a day ahead if desired and keep covered in the fridge. Add sprinkles and whipped cream just before serving for maximum freshness.

Notes

Pour each jello layer slowly over the back of a spoon when the previous layer is partially set but still tacky to keep layers distinct. Chill layers fully for best results. Add whipped cream and sprinkles just before serving for freshness. Can substitute agar agar for vegetarian option and sugar-free jello for lower sugar. Store leftovers covered in fridge up to 3 days; jello is best served cold.
