A playful and healthy snack featuring fresh watermelon cut into fun dinosaur shapes using cookie cutters. Perfect for kids’ parties, picnics, or a refreshing treat on hot days.

Ingredients

  • Seedless watermelon – about 4-5 pounds (1.8-2.3 kg), ripe and firm
  • Dinosaur-shaped cookie cutters – 3 to 5 inches (7.5 to 13 cm), plastic or metal
  • Optional: Fresh mint leaves – a handful for garnish or added flavor
  • Optional: Lime wedges – for a zesty squeeze over the slices before serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the watermelon thoroughly under cool water to remove any surface dirt.
  2. Slice off both ends to create flat, stable surfaces.
  3. Cut the watermelon into 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick slabs.
  4. Gently blot each slab with a paper towel or kitchen cloth to remove excess moisture.
  5. Press your cookie cutter firmly into the watermelon slice, twisting slightly to cut through.
  6. If the shape doesn’t come out easily, use a small knife to free the edges carefully.
  7. Place each dinosaur slice on your serving platter.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle fresh mint leaves around the platter or squeeze lime juice over the slices.
  9. Refrigerate the slices for about 20 minutes before serving for best taste.

Notes

Use a sharp knife for clean watermelon slabs. Pat slices dry to reduce sogginess. Refrigerate before serving for a refreshing taste. If no cookie cutters are available, freehand shapes with a small knife or use other fun-shaped cutters. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
