A spooky and delicious black raspberry punch with a dramatic dry ice smoke effect, perfect for Halloween parties and themed gatherings. This easy-to-make punch balances tart sweetness with citrus and a hint of spice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup black raspberry jam
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup orange juice (fresh or from concentrate)
  • 2 cups chilled ginger ale
  • 1 cup chilled club soda
  • 1 large cinnamon stick
  • A few drops black food coloring (optional)
  • 12 pounds food-grade dry ice
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the citrus juices by squeezing fresh lemons and oranges until you have about ½ cup lemon juice and 1 cup orange juice (approx. 5 minutes).
  2. In a punch bowl, combine black raspberry jam, lemon juice, and orange juice. Whisk or stir until the jam is mostly dissolved and the mixture is smooth (approx. 3 minutes).
  3. Gently stir in chilled ginger ale and club soda, being careful not to lose the bubbles (approx. 2 minutes).
  4. Add the cinnamon stick and let it steep for at least 10 minutes to infuse flavor.
  5. If desired, add a few drops of black food coloring to intensify the color. Taste and adjust by adding more lemon juice or jam if needed.
  6. Add ice cubes to keep the punch cool, avoiding adding them too early to prevent dilution (approx. 5 minutes).
  7. Using gloves or tongs, carefully place small chunks of dry ice into the punch bowl just before serving to create the smoke effect. Handle dry ice with care and do not ingest.
  8. Serve with a ladle, avoiding direct contact with dry ice pieces. Warn guests not to swallow dry ice (approx. 1 minute per serving).

Notes

Use food-grade dry ice and handle with gloves or tongs. Never ingest dry ice or allow it to be swallowed. Add dry ice just before serving for best smoke effect. Stir gently to preserve carbonation. Adjust sweetness and acidity to taste. For a non-carbonated version, replace ginger ale and club soda with sparkling water and add ground ginger. For adult versions, add vodka, rum, or blackberry liqueur.
