A quick and easy honey glazed spiral ham with a sticky, sweet, and savory pineapple brown sugar glaze that caramelizes beautifully and keeps the meat moist and flavorful.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 to 10 pounds spiral ham, pre-sliced (bone-in or boneless)
  • ½ cup honey (raw, local preferred)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (light brown sugar recommended)
  • ½ cup pineapple juice (fresh or canned)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 6 to 8 pineapple rings (canned or fresh)
  • Maraschino cherries (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, pineapple juice, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, cinnamon, and garlic powder. Warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar dissolves and mixture is glossy and slightly thickened (about 5-7 minutes). Set aside.
  3. Place the spiral ham in a roasting pan, cut side down. Arrange pineapple rings on top and secure with toothpicks. Add maraschino cherries in the pineapple centers if desired.
  4. Brush a generous layer of glaze over the entire ham, making sure to get in between the slices. Reserve some glaze for basting during cooking.
  5. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and place in the oven. Heat for approximately 1 hour, basting with additional glaze every 20 minutes.
  6. During the last 15 minutes, remove the foil and brush on a final thick coat of glaze. Increase oven temperature to 400°F (204°C) to caramelize the glaze. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and tent with foil. Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing deeper into the spiral cuts.
  8. Serve warm, spooning extra glaze from the pan over each slice.

Notes

Baste the ham every 20 minutes to keep it moist and flavorful. Avoid boiling the glaze vigorously to maintain honey’s smooth texture. Let the ham rest before slicing to retain juices. For a twist, add apple cider vinegar or ground ginger to the glaze. Adjust cooking time based on ham weight (10-12 minutes per pound). Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
