Ingredients

  • Brie cheese (whole wheel or wedge, around 8 oz / 225 g)
  • Sharp cheddar, sliced or cubed (optional)
  • Goat cheese log (for creaminess and tang)
  • Brie jam (store-bought or homemade, about ½ cup / 120 ml)
  • Prosciutto, thinly sliced (4-6 oz / 115-170 g)
  • Salami slices (4 oz / 115 g)
  • Chorizo or soppressata (optional, 3 oz / 85 g)
  • Seedless grapes, small bunch (about 1 cup / 150 g)
  • Fresh strawberries, halved (1 cup / 150 g)
  • Fresh figs or dried apricots (½ cup / 75 g)
  • Roasted almonds or Marcona almonds (½ cup / 60 g)
  • Assorted crackers (whole grain or water crackers, 1 box)
  • Baguette slices, toasted (1 small baguette)
  • Edible flowers (pansies, nasturtiums, or violets, fresh, about ¼ cup / 10 g)
  • Honey (for drizzling, optional)
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme sprigs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Remove the brie from the fridge about 20 minutes before serving to bring it to room temperature. Slice the cheddar and goat cheese log into bite-sized pieces or thin rounds. (Approx. 5 minutes)
  2. Spoon the brie jam into a small ramekin or bowl. Place it near the center of your board for easy access. If desired, warm the jam slightly (about 10 seconds in the microwave) to make it more spreadable. (Approx. 2 minutes)
  3. Fan out the prosciutto and salami slices in loose folds or rolls to add texture and volume. Arrange the chorizo or soppressata if using. (Approx. 5 minutes)
  4. Wash and dry grapes, strawberries, and figs. Halve the strawberries and figs if large. Scatter these around the board in clusters to create natural color pops. Fill small bowls with almonds and place strategically. (Approx. 7 minutes)
  5. Slice the baguette into thin rounds and toast until golden and crisp (350°F / 175°C for 5-7 minutes). Arrange crackers and bread slices in groups on the board. (Approx. 10 minutes)
  6. Rinse edible flowers gently and pat dry. Scatter them artistically across the board along with fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs. (Approx. 3 minutes)
  7. Drizzle honey over some cheese or fruit for added sweetness if desired. Check the balance of colors and textures—add more fruit or nuts to fill gaps. (Approx. 3 minutes)

Notes

If brie jam is too thick, warm slightly or stir to soften. Keep soft cheeses away from direct heat or sun to avoid melting before serving. Use odd numbers of items for a natural look. Rinse edible flowers gently and ensure they are pesticide-free. For gluten-free option, substitute crackers with almond or rice crackers. Meats can be swapped for plant-based deli slices for vegetarian or vegan adaptations.
