A quick and easy baked salmon recipe featuring tender, flaky salmon infused with a rich garlic butter and bright lemon flavor. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual dinner parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Let it fully heat while you prepare the ingredients.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, and lemon zest. Set aside.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Lightly brush or drizzle olive oil on the skin side to help crisp it.
  4. Season the flesh side of the salmon evenly with salt and black pepper.
  5. Arrange the fillets skin-side down on a parchment-lined baking pan. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over each piece.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 125°F (52°C).
  7. Optional: For a golden top, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Let the salmon rest for 3-5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before seasoning to prevent steaming and ensure browning. Use room temperature melted butter for even flavor. Check salmon early to avoid overcooking. Let salmon rest after baking for moist results. For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with olive oil or vegan butter. Frozen salmon should be fully thawed before baking.
